Why does the Trijicon RM07 in Flat Dark Earth use such a large dot?
Speed is the reason, because a 6.5 MOA dot is the quickest to find when the gun comes up in a hurry. The trade-off is that it covers more of the target further out.
Is the 6.5 MOA RM07 too coarse for range work?
For close and mid-range shooting the 6.5 MOA dot is fine. If you shoot small marks at distance, the 3.25 MOA or 1.0 MOA versions of the same optic are the better choice.
Can the brightness be locked on the RM07-C-700717?
Yes, you set one of the eight levels and lock it so nothing shifts it. Two of those eight settings are night-vision levels.
